Everyone has a hobby..it just so happens that mine is expensive. Or can become expensive I should say.
If you follow me, which I’m guessing you do and if not then you should, you know I love Rae Dunn. It’s a recent obsession and boy has it become an obsession. Just ask my husband haha. He’d prefer I not want to visit Marshalls and TJ Maxx/Homegoods every time we go out but you never know what you will find and every day is the opportunity to find those unicorn pieces.
I started collecting Rae Dunn this past summer and it has quickly became a hobby of mine to go out and try to find those pieces that I could not live without. I was going at random times on different days and sometimes coming up lucky and sometimes I would be lucky to find a butter dish. Oh that butter dish…for about a month that’s all I found and let me tell you, I still cringe at it every time I go hunting and see it.
The hunt really began in September when I noticed Halloween/Fall was out in the stores and then that’s when the hobby really took off because I was waking up at 8 to be outside the stores at opening. I was lucky enough to find some good pieces and some I’ve had to buy offline (don’t do that unless you NEED it and be prepared to pay like $15) over. The best part of Rae Dunn is that it’s more than mugs. There are birdhouses, crocks, cellars, canisters, butter dishes, and even planners! It’s something you can decorate your whole house with. Now with Christmas coming up, I have hunted but also slowed down. It’s hard not to wanna buy it all though! I did snag a unicorn piece of a Santa’s Cookies canister and it’s my favorite along with my Rae Dunn wrapping paper.
It’s not a glamorous hobby and I don’t sell it or make money off of it but it helps me have something that’s for me. As a mom, you sometimes need that thing that makes you feel like you’re more than just a mom and Rae Dunn hunting is that for me. There it is…my hobby. What’s yours?
