My husband is a soccer lover and watches matches from everywhere in the world all the time. It’s soccer 24/7 in our house and he even has the kids loving the sport as well.

When the opportunity arose for us to go to the Gold Cup in Orlando at Exploria Stadium, I had to take it. Robert was like a total kid in a candy store the entire time. Even though they weren’t the teams that he watches religiously, he still knew all the names of the players and was rooting for a certain time to win for both matches. It was so fun to watch him and know that I could give him this oppurtunity.
We took the night to have a little date night and it was absolutely perfect.

We had AMAZING seats sitting about 4 rows back from the side of the field. Players so close that we could literally reach out and touch them. We grabbed a couple drinks and went to our seats where my husband couldn’t get over how close we were. It was nice to spend some time with him doing something that we used to do all the time before for date nights, go to soccer games.

First game: Jamaica vs. Guadeloupe
The first game was so much fun and instantly Jamaica scores on Guadeloupe and it was great hearing the fans go wild. We sat in an area where they are loud and proud and I was loving every minute of it. Robert even got in on it with them and it was so funny to watch him yell and coach from the stands.

I don’t know much about soccer so I always have to ask Robert a million questions and the best part is that he doesn’t mind answering them even though I’ve probably asked them a ton of times. Gotta love having a wife who knows nothing about the sport that you live, eat and breathe!
Jamaica ended up winning this game!

Second game: Costa Rica vs. Suriname
ABout 45 mins after the first game ended, the second one began and we took a few minutes to go to the bathroom and grab some yummy tacos. I was starving since we had dinner early and there is nothing like enjoy a meal at the stadium.

This game was intense from the start and both teams gave it their all. It took about 35 minutes into the game before someone scored their first goal. It was fun again to hear the crowds go wild. Costa Rica was the loudest for this game and when they scores, you heard it!
Again, Robert was totally into the game and was coaching from the stands. I just love watching him in his element.

We left a little early to beat the Orlando traffic because after a game it can get WILD. We know this from all the Orlando City games that we have attended. Costa Rica ended up winning the game though as we found out on the way home!
Wow That’s so amazing that you know nothing about soccer but stayed to watch all games! One that insane because I know how emotional fans can get about soccer. Was a die heart, but was keen to see your take on making it date night, and you’ve done an outstanding job sharing his passion…. hahaj no question: have they made you wake up at 6a.m. for a Euro game haha
Watching an exciting game of sports is just what I need now. I’m waiting for my next event to come.
Wow, what an amazing experience! I am go’s you and your hubby got to do what you enjoy so much
It’s obvious you had fun and I must say Robert sure does have a lot of patience to have answered your million questions during a soccer game. Not every guy is. Kudos to him.
