As much as all love to lay out by the pool and tan our lives away, it’s also not the safest thing for us. Enter in self-tanner! I find self tanners to actually be ten times easier than laying out in the sun for hours on end hoping you turn just one shade darker and not get burnt like a lobster. I tend to have the last half of that sentence happen to me more than anything.
I have tried quite a few different brands of self tanner but these three are my top ones! I tend to lean towards one more than the other two but that is just because you can not beat the price for the color you get.
B Tan

Now, this is the brand that I tend to use the most because you can not beat the price point. For $10, you are getting one bomb tan that makes you look like you spent hours out in the sun. I have used both the tanned AF line and the one pictured above. Both have given me a great color, easy to apply, comes out in a mousse, and doesn’t leave me streaky. I like to leave mine on overnight to get that full tan but you can do a few hours and hop in the shower and rinse it off. Easy peasy!
Tanologist

This brand I have seen all over and I was insanely skeptical at first because the price is kinda high ($17) for me since I started out using the B Tan brand. But, I couldn’t find any B Tan in store so I grabbed this one knowing that a lot of people have had very good results with it. The water aspect to it had me worried that I would end up with patches and streaks. It didn’t, thank goodness, however I did grab the light shade so this just gave me that normal olive color I always have when it’s summer time versus my pasty white self during the winter. I do wanna try the dark color and see how well I like that one. This also came out in a mousse and was easy to apply. They also sell the tan face drops if you’re wanting your face to match the rest of your body!
Coola

Now, yall are probably thinking that I am nuts if I thought that Tanologist was a bit expensive to now be suggesting this brand ($48). Let me start off by saying that when I became a content creator, I was gifted this brand of sunless tanner and it was pure heaven for me. I loved everything about the color, mousse texture and I was left with zero streaks. For my first self tanner, this was a dream. It is definitely worth every single penny if you are wanting something that has certain health aspects to it such a organic ingredients and such.
Some other brands you could try that I have heard are great!
- Loving Tan – $42-$60
- Bondi Sands – $24
- Bali Body – $30
Don’t forget to grab a bit too when using self tanner! Your hands will thank you.
I am always looking for a great self tanner. Thanks for these recommendations. I am going to try the B Tan because I really like a mousse and love the price point!
This is the first summer that I didn’t use a self tanner before pool season and I miss it! I’ll check out these brands!
I have never tried a self tanner but this post makes me want to try so I am not always pasty white.
I’ve heard really great things about Coola’s self tanner! Definitely some great info here!
I need to try one of these. I’ve always been too scared of looking orange and streaky.
Thanks for sharing your experience with each! I’m considering using self tanner during the winter months!
Thanks for the tips! I need to try these
I have not used a self tanner since high school! I’m sure they have come a long way since then. I’ll have to try these out.
I really love the Coola brand. I need to give it a try.
I’ve never used self tanner before but I’ve been wanting to start. I love the Cool sunscreen so I might try that one, though the less expensive options also sound great.
Oh my gosh, the name of the first one made me laugh!! Awesome suggestions.
I need to try these self tanners.
I am trying not to get too much sun, and I prefer a self tanner. These all sound like great choices.
