Our house is brand new but it is a mobile home and while there are some really amazing upgrades to it, we also went in knowing we would probably change a few things to meet what we wanted in our home. So, we worked out a list of things we wanted to remodel and then hit the first one head on.
First up, just so happened to be the kitchen backsplash. I searched for hours on Amazon to find a subway tile that was durable yet within a budget we could work but everything came up in the $100 range and we weren’t looking to spend that much on peel & stick. I knew that’s what I wanted to do because our walls aren’t concrete so the changes of getting actual tile and grout to stick were seriously slim to none.

Enter in a random stop at Dollar Tree where I came across this peel & stick backsplash. I had seen this exact one on TikTok and people said it actually worked so I bought 10 sheets just to try it out. I wasn’t banking that this would be what would create the kitchen backsplash of my dreams. I was totally wrong.

Let the remodel begin!
I came home and my husband and I got to work on putting the backsplash up. We had to make some weird cuts but thankfully it was easy since it’s peel & stick so there’s no need for any power tools. Just an exacto knife! 10 sheets did quite a bit of my kitchen but not the whole thing of course. I went back a couple days later to get the rest that they had in store only to find out that they were sold out! I guess everyone loves the idea of remodeling on a budget!
I spent weeks going back to that Dollar Tree hoping I would find them again and always coming up empty handed. Now, during this time I found out that you could actually order off the Dollar Tree website but you had to buy in bulk and that was 50 sheets for $50. I wasn’t really sure I was going to need 50 sheets so I hesitated very hard on buying it from their website. Something inside me told me to just keep going back and it would eventually turn up. And it did!

After about a month of half of my kitchen having a backsplash, I finally found them again in store so I grabbed about 30 and prayed that I would only need that amount. My husband was amazing and put them up immediately for me. I was seriously so excited that my kitchen dreams were about to come true. I shoot a lot in the kitchen for collaborations and content so having something bright and a neutral background makes it so much easier on me. Plus, there is nothing like subway tile.

Y’all, remodeling on a budget is totally doable! You just have to know what kind of budget you are looking at and then find that one thing that works within it. I am so thankful to have found such a realistic looking and cheap backsplash. I am also super thankful to have Robert who was determined to get it up for one Sunday afternoon.
This is great! We did this a couple of years ago. We remodeled everything and on a budget! We were lucky though that some of our friends are electricians, contractors and plumbers and helped us out!
This looks great! We need a backsplash, so this post is right on time 🙂
Wow, I can’t believe you found that at the Dollar Tree!! Awesome.
I love how it turned out! great trips!
Oh man I so want a backsplash but can’t afford the real deal yet! I will give these a try. They look amazing!
We did something similar when we made updates to our kitchen – floor and backsplash.. and we loved how it turned out as well.. definitely helps stay on budget
Y’all did a really good job with this backsplash. It’s so cute and I love that you didn’t have to spend lots of money for it.
I have to learn from you and start doing my project on a budget. Job well done!
Remodeling can be so much fun and excitement! It looks beautiful!
That came out really cute! I would never suspect it was from Dollar Tree. I did something similar with a vinyl wall sticker from there over the stove backsplash area as a temporary until we redo the counters and backsplash. Gotta love Dollar Tree!
I love this and how it turned out!
It looks really great 😊I never would have though of looking for it there 😊
This turned out so good! And it was nice on your budget. Win-win!
Love this!! What a great Dollar Tree find!!! Thanks for the tip, I’m going to keep my eyes peeled!!
Yessss! I love how it turned out and I love that RD mug!
We are thinking of doing subway tile for our kitchen as well! (And isnt it nuts what the Dollar Store carries that you’d never imagine?!)
