Top 4 Spots To Visit In Orlando With Kids

Orlando is just a hop, skip, and a jump away for us but that doesn’t mean that we don’t enjoy going for a mini staycation any chance that we can. We recently headed down there to stay at the Tryp Hotel by Wyndham which you can check out the full blog post here for. Definitely recommend staying there as it was at the center of everything we did!

Now, some may hear the word Orlando and instantly think Disney which yes, that is near by but that isn’t the only thing that you can come down to Florida and visit while in the area. Or if you’re a local momma like I am, you probably don’t think that your littles can do much of anything aside from Disney but I am here to give you 4 different spots that you can take your littles to and they will thoroughly enjoy.

Seaworld Orlando

You’re probably thinking well duh on this one but honestly not many people really use this theme park to their advantage. I love going here because you get to really see some animals that maybe you wouldn’t get to see otherwise. SeaWorld Orlando holds a special place in my heart as it’s where I fell in love with the animal, the Dolphin. I visited at a young age and just instantly wanted to play with one all day and convinced myself I was going to come to work there and train Dolphins. Ah, what a dream!

A lot of exhibits and restaurants are still closed due to COVID and they are renovating in some areas too but there was still a lot to do and discover. We got to feed Stingrays, watch Turtles swim with fishes, go through the Shark exhibit, watch the Sea Lion High show, visit the Penguins, and of course visit Sesame Street Land. That last part was definitely the kids favorite part.

Sesame Street Land is new to Seaworld and it’s like you stepped right onto Sesame Street. There’s a carousel, Elmo’s train ride, Abby’s flower ride, a little mini rollercoaster, and a slimy worm ride. Right in the center is the best part for kids and even adults on the hot Florida days, a splash pad. We spent a good amount of time there as my kids are true Florida babies and just love the water.

All in all, we had an amazing time exploring the park and seeing all the animals and taking in the fresh air. We also felt safe as well with everyone socially distancing to the best of their ability, masks being a requirement for everyone over the age of 2, and temperature checks when you first walk in. The process of entering was quick and smooth and we didn’t wait in line too long for anything.

WonderWorks Orlando

I had never been to WonderWorks but Adylee had a couple times with her school and her biological father’s family so it was exciting to witness it for the first time and watch her tell us what to do when it came to certain areas.

I wasn’t too sure on what to expect when I entered and if there would be much for the little two to do but, they actually had so much fun and there was so much to do every time you turned a corner. On the first floor was some fun interactive things like feeling hurricane force winds, seeing if you could handle being in the icy cold water that the Titanic sunk in and some electric magnetic force objects.

Then you head upstairs to even more fun interactive areas like a interactive pitching simulation, dinosaur exhibit, laying on what feels like a bed of nails, VR game, playing basketball like a real NBA player where you can also see your height by simply standing on a spot. There was also a bubble factory which was the kids favorite and we spent quite a bit of time there just playing with the bubbles and seeing who could make it the farthest without popping their bubble. Around the corner, was an area for some sensory items like an interactive sand table, a doodle area, and then a piano. The kids loved playing me a song and messing around with the sand table.

Through the next door was a little toddler area that had a coloring interactive station, some arcade type games and bunch of other fun things for kids to do that are around Giovanni and Gracelyn’s age. My husband spent a lot of time with the kids in that area while I was with Adylee in the space area. This area was extremely fascinating as you could see what you weighed on Earth and Mars, an Astronaut simulator, and then a rollercoaster simulator which Adylee was the only one who went on it. This mama doesn’t do rollercoasters!

Again, we felt insanely safe with everyone social distancing as best as they could and everyone required to wear masks in the building. There has not been a moment this whole trip where COVID protocols weren’t followed.

Museum of Illusions

At ICON Park, there are a ton of different options to do along with restaurants. You’ve probably seen us around there quite a few times if you have been around for a while. This time we decided to try out the Museum of Illusions which really surprised me with how much fun it can be!

Optical Illusions are always so fascinating to me so I was very intrigued by what this Museum of Illusions had to offer. There were not only optical illusions but also some brain teasers along the way. There were options around every corner for you to really interact with and get your brain working.

The kids loved the optical illusion part like the house of mirrors, the beach scene, the slanted wall, and my personal favorite which was the tunnel where everyone looked like they were falling through.

The above photo was taken like normal with Adylee standing in the middle and the lady said jump and I took the picture. Then I flipped it upside down in my camera roll and ta-da…she’s falling through a hole. How cool is that! The next one below we all were literally laying on the floor or sitting on beams that were up against the wall but taken a certain way and it looks like the kids are hanging from the ceiling. A total optical illusion!

Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf

Just a quick 5 minute walk from ICON Park is Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf. I’ve been paying mini golf for as long as I can remember as it was a family thing we did always. It has always been one of those things that we kept score and had to know who won at the end. This time around, I knew the kids wouldn’t fully understand the concept so we decided to just play for fun and let them do their thing. Learning through play if you will! I am a huge advocate for that and I know that sometimes that is the best way for them to really grasp the concept.

Orlando has so many fun things to offer for families of all ages and this isn’t even the tip of the iceberg of what you can do in Orlando. We absolutely love having this huge playground of things to do in our backyard and creating all the memories with our babies. These are the times that we really treasure and know that when they get older they will look back on it and smile.
