It’s no secret that I’m busy A LOT. Between mom life, full time blogging, shooting content, answering emails, posting both sponsored and non-sponsored content, I am extremely busy. I had always bought a planner but never really wrote in it. I would just write like one thing down and then end up throwing it out because I went the entire year not using it. However going into 2021, I wanted to really stay organized now that I am a full-time blogger/content creator plus the kids are beginning to have more and more things going on.
I’m the type of person that if it’s pretty, I’ll use it. So, I really wanted to find a planner that caught my eye and would continue to do so the entire year. While in Walmart with my mom, I stumbled upon the Happy Planner planners and one of them just grabbed my attention. I knew that adding stickers to your planner was a thing so I picked up just a basic sticker book. The planner I got was for 2021 and didn’t start until that week of December leading into January so I just kind put it on a shelf in a bag until it was time to come back to it.
The week before, I brought it out and opened it up and was instantly intimidated by it. Tons of boxes and writing space and what was I supposed to do with these stickers again. I started researching everything I could find on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and even TikTok. I needed to know what to do with all this space and how to make it pretty yet functional. That led to 3 days straight of just constant research and going to to the store to buy sticker books. I found a few I loved in Michael’s but then came home and didn’t love them in my planner. Went back to Walmart, got another sticker book and some gel pens but still wasn’t in love. I finally ventured to Hobby Lobby one night and found the Wild Styled sticker book which is all leopard and zebra print (my loves) so I grabbed it and told myself that if I still didn’t love it, I would just give up and use it like I always do.
Turns out all my research and video watching paid off because I was able to make what I consider a semi-decent spread. I filled it in with everything I knew I needed done that week and it was like everything clicked. I still have a way to go before I’m one of those planner gurus but hey, this is a start! I am wanting to really give planning my all this year because like I said, I’m insanely busy. This will help me so much with keep track of everything and not forgetting! Especially when it comes to the Adylee’s competitive cheer because they have a ton of competitions this year!
I highly recommend the Happy Planner brand as they are well worth the money. What I also recommend is researching all the different sizes and ways that you can write in the planner. The one that I have here is the classic sized dashboard planner. It’s intimidating for a first time user and if I could go back I’d do a different type but still the classic sized. The sizing is perfect but the dashboard layout isn’t my favorite.
