Daytona Lagoon – A Place the Whole Family Can Enjoy

My kids are true water babies so it was a no brainer when Daytona Lagoon invited us back after re-opening. We went this past Monday and as always, had a complete and total blast! There truly is something for everyone to do at this family fun spot.

Since re-opening after Covid-19, there have been some safety regulations put into place so that they are able to keep everyone safe and healthy as well as still be able to enjoy all that Daytona Lagoon has to offer. This is something that is stressed multiple times during the day over the loud speaker so that anyone who may be entering the waterpark for the first time are able to hear. There are also multiple hand sanitizing stations located throughout the water park (as pictured below) and the entertainment center.

My husband and I made this a family fun trip by asking our two nephews to join us and letting our oldest, Adylee, know that this was also a treat for having gotten all A’s this year and also for advancing into the next grade. Once we arrived, we had to stand in line so that everyone in our party was able to get their temperature taken. If you have a temperature that is deemed unsafe, they will kindly ask you to wait a few minutes (the heat can do it to you as well and man is Florida hot these days) and then retake it again. If it is still too high, they will kindly ask that you leave and return when you do not have a temperature. In the city of Daytona, it is currently mandatory that you have to wear a mask inside the Family Entertainment Center so they asked us if we had masks to which we all replied that we did. Had we not had any, they would have provided them for us so that we could go inside and purchase our tickets for the waterpark as well as if we wanted to play the arcade games inside.

Once we got our wristbands, it was time to head up to our cabana which is perfect if you have littles! It comes with chairs, table, a lounge chair as well, a fan to keep you cool, and a safe for anything you may have valuable. If you do not opt to purchase a cabana, then they do have lockers available for you to rent and use during your stay. These are all sanitized prior to your arrival as well as after each use. Safety is key! The lounge chairs near the kid area and the wave pool are all 6 feet apart and are in groups of 3-5 chairs. Again, all of these are sanitized and cleaned so that we can safely have fun!

Of course, the kids instantly ran downstairs and into the wave pool just in time to catch the waves. Once, that was done we went in the lazy river which is just so relaxing for any one. There are tubes provided as well if you wanna just lay on/in one and float your troubles away.

The older kids went off with my husband, Robert, and got in line to ride some rides while I stayed down with the younger two and played in the kid area. There are 4 slides and Giovanni being my all daring one, goes down them himself. He spent hours just going up the ropes to get to the top to go down the slide while I sat at the bottom with Gracelyn who is not a water baby by any means (she prefers the beach).

A few hours later, we headed back up to the cabana to order lunch and relax a bit before jumping back into the fun. Plus, you have to take breaks when it comes to the Florida sun. The kids got chicken tenders and fries while Robert and older nephew got a Philly Cheesestake and fries. I opted for a chicken quesadilla and fries, all of which were DELICIOUS.

About 30 minutes after eating, the kids were off once again to ride the rides, their favorite being Kraken’s Revenge. My husband stayed behind with me to take the kids back to their area so that I could enjoy some playing time with Giovanni too while we tried to get Gracelyn to love the water. We took a ride in the lazy river and Gracelyn fell asleep on me in the float so, I took her up to the cabana to nap while Robert played with Giovanni some more before finally bringing him up so that he could crash. Robert then went to join the older kids in line for some rides and I took the opportunity to relax in the cabana and order myself a Sunset at the Lagoon drink. It was so nice to just sit back and do nothing for a couple hours while the kids slept. That doesn’t happen often when you’re a mom of three!

Gracelyn then woke up and as did Giovanni just as Robert and the kids were coming back from their rounds on the rides. We then decided that it was a good time to pack up and head inside to the entertainment center to see what they had to offer. The kids ran off and did Laser Tag while Robert and Giovanni went to the second floor to do go-karts. I hung back with Gracelyn and waited for the older kids. They all had such a blast at the attractions!

There is so much more to do at Daytona Lagoon than just the water park area. Inside is a whole arcade room as well as Laser Tag and a obstacle course that takes you above the arcade area. Theres also a little cafe inside that you can grab chips, hot dogs, and things like that to eat. Outside on the second floor is go-karts and on the main floor just outside is the 18 hole mini golf. There truly is something for everyone in the family to enjoy! You can spend the day in the sun and then head inside and play games.

My kids absolutely love the water park as well as the arcade/attraction area. We always have such an amazing time and leave there wanting to go right back. Daytona Lagoon is absolutely the place to head to if you aren’t wanting to go to the beach but want to enjoy some water fun.
