With the recent events happening in the world, we needed to get out of our house and what better way to do that than head to a local resort and have a mini staycation! Lake Buena Vista Resort & Spa hosted us for the weekend and it was everything we could’ve wanted and more! The kids had such a blast and so did us parents.
We’ve never taken a family vacation just us before so this was such a nice change of pace for our family. Our room was located on the 14th floor in the 3rd building and was a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom. Let’s just say, the bathroom in the master was heaven and I spent a good 45 mins in a bath with the jets on after a long day the pool at Saturday. Our room was on the side that overlooked most of the area and you would’ve been able to have seen the fireworks from Disney had there been a show going on. We were able to see the lights from Old Town though and the kids thought that was pretty cool.
We’ve stayed at few resorts with our extended family before but nothing like this! Our balcony was the entire length of our room and that was something that I loved because there was enough room for everyone to enjoy the area without being cramped. Plus there’s a spa on site (currently closed due to COVID-19), a bar & grill on site called Frankie Farrell’s Irish Pub & Grill as well as a Pizza Hut express on site. Both deliver right to your room!
Once we got in and unpacked, you can almost guess the first thing we did that night. The pool of course! There’s 2 pools on the property, one between buildings 1 & 2 that’s a smaller one with a jacuzzi and then there is the main pool which is called Pirates Plunge and has the pirate ship with slide, 2 jacuzzis, hammock swings and the Lani’s Luau bar. We were closer to the main pool which is exactly what the kids were itching to go do. So we did!

Once we got to the pool, the kids were off! There’s a walk up beach like side on one side of the pool while the other has a more traditional step down. The deepest it goes is 5 feet and that’s in the middle of the pool. Adylee can swim and Giovanni trusts his puddle jumper with his life however, miss Gracelyn wouldn’t leave the walk up beach side area as she was a bit hesitant about the pool. The first night, we grabbed dinner at Lani’s Luau and some drinks. All of which were absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed. The pool hours at 8-10 right now and we got down there about 6 and stayed till 8. The kids didn’t wanna leave but we knew that tomorrow would be a big day so, we packed them up and headed back up to the room.

The next morning, we were up at our typical time of 7. Vacation sleep in you say? Not with littles! We headed down to the pool as we wanted to grab a good spot and eat breakfast down there because Lani’s Luau offers breakfast as well when they open which is about 8! The kids were absolutely stoked to swim first thing in the morning AND eat breakfast at the pool.

This time, I was able to capture some footage of Giovanni in the pool as that boy was a total fish this weekend and we had to drag him out of the pool both days! The kids swam, ate breakfast AND lunch by the pool as well as played with their cousins who came down to the resort to check it out and play in the pool with us.

Daddy played with the kiddos while momma got to enjoy some time in the hammock swing as well as some tanning time. It was nice to unwind, be off our phones and just enjoy each other’s company. It was a time to slow down and really focus on our babies and it was exactly what we needed as a family!

We stayed at the pool area till about 3:30 when we finally decided we had been down there for long enough. The kiddos were getting exhausted plus they were starting to get a tad bit red and I knew any longer theyd be burnt and that’s not good for anyone so we headed up to the room for showers and relaxation time. We grabbed some dinner and just sat in our room enjoying all the amenities that the room had to offer. Like that jacuzzi bath tub! Did I mention how nice that was?
The next morning was check out time and we were all pretty sad to leave our little home away from home for the weekend. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and vowed to come back as soon as we can for an even longer stay because this was the PERFECT little getaway spot and although it was a local staycation, it was exactly what our family needed. Some time out of the house and sometime enjoying each other’s company!

I, personally, can not wait for our next trip there as this was one for the books! If you’re a local to Florida or even coming from another state and looking for somewhere to go for the weekend or a small vacation away from your home then you need to plan to stay here at Lake Buena Vista Resort & Spa. Once the parks all open, they offer a shuttle service to them as well so you can visit Mickey during the day and come unwind by the pool at night. Perfect combination if you ask me!
oh wow, looks like an awesome staycation!
I’d love this staycation. Looks like you guys had fun.
