As a new mom, it’s quick to find yourself very overwhelmed by all of the gadgets and even necessities that are out there. Do you go with recycled diapers, non toxic, regular ol pampers? Sensitive wipes, unscented or scented? The list goes on!
After having three little ones, I have found the things that have worked for me and my littles as well as some things that I have found that worked for friends. Everyone is different and so is every baby but, these products are definitely ones worth giving a look at and a shot!

First up is a Dockatot, I vowed to myself when I got pregnant with Gracelyn that I would get one of these. Boy, was that the best thing I could’ve done for not only myself but also her. Gracelyn slept horribly and still does but what worked for Giovanni and Adylee failed on her. The only thing that helped her have long stretches of sleep was her Dockatot. She loved to be held while sleeping and this lounger was able to give her that same security. I love that its portable and you can take it with you anywhere. We traveled with Gracelyn’s for the first 4 months of her life.
Second is a swaddleme swaddler, Adylee hated being swaddled from day one but with Gracelyn and Giovanni, it was the only way they’d even attempt to sleep. It keeps baby’s arms at their side and doesn’t allow them to make any sudden movements which sometimes wakes them up as they start to realize that they can move freely after birth.

Third is a pacifier, I always assumed children just love a pacifier and thought based on stories of how attached to mine was that my kids would come out the same. I could not have been more wrong. Adylee hated it but loved to suck her thumb and I was not about to embark on that journey so I kept trying till she took to it. Giovanni loved his from the beginning and Gracelyn just started loving hers at 9 months. I swear that they are amazing and will help you if you can get your children to take one. My favorite brands are MAM and Ryan & Rose.

Fourth, if you are breastfeeding I highly recommend a few things that have helped me. Those are a Boppy, Spectra S2 pump and the Ollie Grey nursing bra. The Boppy helps you with positioning while breastfeeding and just gives more comfort for both you and baby. Giovanni loved his until he stopped nursing yet Gracelyn wanted nothing to do with it after month 2. See a pattern here with that girl? She is going to give a run for my money! Back to the breastfeeding…the Spectra S2 pump is amazing and has helped me so much when it came to pumping. I always felt like it got the most milk out compared to other brands I had tried previously. Lastly, the Ollie Grey nursing bra has been a lifesaver for me this time around with Gracelyn. I had used just cheap ones with Giovanni and they were always falling apart but the Ollie Grey is sturdy and helps keep the moisture away so myself nor baby develops thrush.
If you are formula feeding, I highly suggest using Tommee Tippee bottles as those were the ones that I found worked best when I was feeding Adylee. They seemed to not give her gas like the other bottles did.

Another great product I have found recently is the Itzy Ritzy Boss backpack. I have three little ones who all need different things and this diaper bag/backpack holds everything they need plus what I need. Is there anything better? It holds enough diapers for two kids, wipes, change of clothes, snacks for all 3 plus my own.

Lastly, I recommend a sling when it comes to baby wearing. I have found that it is easier for me to use a ring sling than a soft structured carrier or a wrap. I tried different wraps and soft structured carriers with Giovanni and they just never gave me the sense of him being attached to me securely like a sling does. At almost 3 years old, I can still sling him which I love. They go from birth to beyond and that for me with 2 kids only 21 months apart is a plus! There are several different brands out there but I tend to use my Kyte Baby or West Coast Sewing Co the most. However, I have heard that the Wildbird brand is amazing.
There are a few of my recommendations for moms but as you can see, not all babies like the same things and in my case not a single one of my kids was the same. It’s all trial and error but in the end you find what works best for YOU AND BABY. What are some things you have found worked for you?
